Geography academic elected Chair of the Population Geography Research Group

Loughborough University is excited to announce Dr Sophie Cranston has been elected as Chair of the RGS-IBG Population Geography Research Group.

The RGS-IBG Population Geography Research Group is one of the research groups of the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers). It aims to promote population geography and support population geographers.

Sophie has contributed to this Research Group since 2015, previously being Secretary of the group. At the recent Royal Geographical Society (with Institute of British Geographers) Annual Conference, Sophie co-organised a session on ‘(Hi)Stories of Population Geography: reflections from PopGRG’s Archiving Project’, which explores the history and future of the sub-discipline.

In her new role as Chair, Sophie will be working with the committee on a number of upcoming events such as the 50th Anniversary Festival Celebration of the PGRG in November.
