MSc graduate awarded second place in CIWEM Dr Jenkins Technical Paper competition

Kieran Gething, a recent graduate of MSc Environmental Monitoring for Management, has been awarded 2nd place in the CIWEM Dr Jenkins Technical Paper competition.

The CIWEM Dr Jenkins Technical Paper competition took place on 28th February, held at Loughborough University. It provided an opportunity for new and prospective members of CIWEM to present papers on any topic in the field of water and environmental management.

The first round entailed a 3000-word research paper, narrowing down contestants to four finalists, from backgrounds including ecology, geography, as well as engineering. The four finalists gave a 20-minute presentation based on their research, followed by a 10-minute Q&A session.

Kieran Gething delivered his research on “The importance of artificial drainage channel for macroinvertebrate biodiversity in agricultural landscapes”.

After successfully coming in at 2nd place, Kieran was awarded prize money by the President of CIWEM, David Wickens.
