Research groups and centres

Renee is a PhD student at the Centre for Research in Communication and Culture at Loughborough University. She finished her bachelor’s degree at the University of the Philippines Los Banos and her master’s degree at the University of East Anglia.

Previously, Renee worked with several non-profit organisations on human rights and climate justice issues as a media and communications specialist. She also worked as a freelance journalist for Southeast Asia. Renee is also a children’s book author.

Renee is a PhD student at the Centre for Research in Communication and Culture. Renee’s interest is how Facebook as affected democracies. Specifically, her research focus is on Facebook’s impact in Philippine elections, looking at trolling, fake news, and the use of influencers for political campaigning on the social media platform.
