Yunyi Liao appointed as a Doctoral Leader for the Institute of Advanced Studies

Yunyi Liao has been appointed as a Doctoral Leader for the Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS) and will help support the delivery of the IAS programme.

The Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS) promotes an outstanding, interdisciplinary research environment at Loughborough by bringing international research leaders to our campuses to collaborate with our academic staff, enrich our research communities, and enhance Loughborough’s international reputation.

The IAS runs an annual Theme led by a multidisciplinary team of academics from across Schools, and the Theme for 2021-22 is ‘AI: Facts, Fictions, Futures’.

As a Doctoral Leader, Yunyi will help support organising and managing events, hosting international visitors, and creating promotional materials of the IAS at Loughborough University.

Yunyi joined Communication and Media at Loughborough University as a doctoral student in January 2021 (supervised by Professor Sabina Mihelj and Dr Michael Skey). Her PhD project examines nation branding led by individuals in their everyday life on social media platforms, and how does this reflect the changing pattern of nation branding in digitalisation.
