Planning your day
There's so much going on around campus across our open days, so make sure you know what to expect.
Before you arrive
Before you attend the open day, there are a few things which you can do to make your trip run as smoothly as possible.
Book your place
First thing's first: get yourself and your guests booked onto an open day - you can do that here. We'll send you a QR code by email - screenshot it and bring it with you for registration on the day.
Organise how you intend to get here
Take the stress out of travelling to Loughborough and plan how you intend to get here. Further information can be found on our travel information page.
Let us know your special requirements
Travelling a long way?
You might want to consider staying overnight in one of our hotels. Book a room at Burleigh Court or the Link Hotel (they offer special open day discounts) and make the most of your trip to campus.
Check out the Open Day Guide
We'll let you know when our Open Day Guide is ready, so that you can download it and start making plans for the talks, tours and taster sessions you'd like to experience. You don't need to book onto anything before attending the Open Day, it's just a case of getting organised - it's a super busy day and you'll want to cram in as much as possible, so make a note in advance of the things you don't want to miss! We'll have printed versions of the Guide available on the day too, which you can pick up at registration.
Who’s coming with you?
Ask someone to come with you. A parent/guardian is perfect - they'll no doubt have lots of questions of their own!
Take a look at the weather forecast – you might need sunglasses and suncream or an umbrella and a raincoat. Hopefully it’s not the latter!
Wear comfortable shoes
There will be lots of walking and standing, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. We don’t want anyone leaving with a blister!
On the day
There is so much to do once you’re here it can be easy to get distracted, to help you get the most out of your time with us, here’s a short checklist to make sure you stay on track.
Once you arrive on campus, you will be able to register at a number of different locations across campus. You can find registration points at;
- West Park Teaching Hub
- Pilkington Library
- Edward Herbert Building (EHB)
- James France
- Students’ Union
- Edward Barnsley Building
You can also register at any one of the purple gazebos which are dotted around campus.
Share your experience
Follow us on Instagram or Snapchat and get stuck into our open day online. Share your experience using #LboroOpenDay or tag us in your Story for a chance to feature in our open day stories, and search Loughborough to use our unique open day stickers.
We’d love to hear from you.
Attend a departmental talk to find out more about your subject of interest. This is a great opportunity to check out the facilities within the department and ask those questions you’ve been burning to ask.
Speak to current students
Speak with current students and take this opportunity to ask them lots of questions. This is the best way to find out what it’s like to live and study here. We’ll have lots of student helpers who’ll be easy to spot, so don’t be afraid to stop and have a chat with them.
Get contact details
When you leave you’re bound to have questions, so make sure you take the contact details of the people you spoke to within your department. This will allow you to get in touch with them following the open day.
