So, you’ve received your offers and now it’s time to carefully consider your options before making a final decision on where you would like to study your undergraduate degree. No two universities are the same, but we hope our top five reasons of why you should choose Loughborough help to make your decision a little easier.

Loughborough University is at the top of its game

You may have heard our recent news that Loughborough was crowned ‘University of the Year for Sport’ for the third time in the Time and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022.

We are delighted to have also ranked seventh (out of 130) in The Complete University Guide 2023 UK league table, as well as holding onto our top ten ranking in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022 for the sixth year running.

We have a beautiful 523-acre campus to call home, and an outstanding academic team who continue to push the boundaries of excellence. There is no doubt that Loughborough is entering its prime, and with our unbeatable student experience, there has never been a better time to join us on our journey.

That’s why our outstanding Careers Network founded the Personal Best development programme, designed to help you achieve academic, professional, and personal success.

Through a series of awards and activities, we’ll support you in building desirable skills that we know top employers are looking for, as well as giving you the freedom and encouragement to be the best version of yourself.

We believe in you, and we offered you a place at Loughborough because we would love to see you join our extraordinary Loughborough family. You have a real talent and our Careers team are here on campus, waiting to meet you and to help you reach your potential.

We care about sustainability

At Loughborough, we care about the environment and are passionate about creating a sustainable campus which makes a positive impact on the surrounding communities. From the 7,500 trees we’ve planted to preserve our precious wildlife, to the 400,000 fewer disposable cups we're now using thanks to the reuseable ones on offer in our catering outlets - there’s so much we can do together to reduce our shared carbon footprint.

Did you know that Loughborough has one of the largest single-site campuses in the country at 175 hectares (433 acres) – and that a whopping three-quarters of our land is green, open space. We’re incredibly proud of our campus, and it may come as no surprise to hear that it's been internationally recognised as one of the best green spaces in the UK.

Take a look at some of our green, open spaces that helped us achieve our Green Flag Award, and that can be used by you and your fellow students for independent studies, recreational exercise, or even small social events.

Learn from world-class academics

Teaching and learning methods at universities have been quite a hot topic of late, due to the Government restrictions around face-to-face interactions. In recent months, our exceptional academic team here at Loughborough have adapted to the challenges and changes to ensure that all students receive the highest possible standard of education and that they have a positive learning experience.

Our academics are at the forefront of their research field and are passionate about bringing their expertise to the classroom. Also, with a ratio of 1 academic staff member to 13.4 students, there’s no doubt you’ll receive the commitment and support you need to succeed.

Both the teaching quality and facilities are world class. The new STEMLab is incredible. The lecturers are world-leading in their respective fields and are all more than willing to provide extra help to you during your time at Loughborough, should you need it.

The Loughborough student experience remains among the best

Loughborough University is known to have one of the best student experiences in the UK, and 2022 will be no exception. There’s no telling what position the UK will be in next year, or whether the Coronavirus guidelines will still be in force – or as stringent, but what we do know is the opportunities that will be available to you will be as awesome as ever.

We have over 120 societies for you to get involved in through our award-winning Students’ Union, and more than 55 Athletic Union sports clubs for you to explore. There really is something for everyone here at Loughborough, and so many places to meet lifelong friends.

Oh, and one final thing...

We know you’re probably wondering how things are currently looking here at Loughborough, and how we have made our campus a safe space for students, staff, and visitors during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

We would like to reassure you that a considerable amount of time, care, and thought has gone into preparing our environment for the return of our students and as a result, we have many new measures in place across the site to ensure social distancing and personal hygiene is maintained at all times.

We have also taken a more flexible approach to teaching, using a combination of online platforms and in-person lectures to deliver course content so that we can better support all students in their learning experience. So far we’re very pleased to say this is working well for both academics and students and is something that we are going to carry forward in to the 2021/22 academic year.
