As a dedicated group of support staff, we understand that navigating the challenges of academic life can sometimes feel overwhelming, and we are committed to ensuring your well-being and success.

The Welfare Team

The Welfare Team are on hand to talk through any academic or personal issues you may be facing during your studies. In addition to supporting and helping you access any other relevant support services; our team can authorise coursework extensions and discuss mitigating circumstances claims with you.

Mental Health Support

Our dedicated Mental Health Support Team provides support to students who face barriers affecting their ability to study as a result of their mental health.

Loughborough Nightline

Loughborough Nightline is a confidential, non-advisory, out-of-hours student listening service that you can contact by phone or email with anything that may be on your mind. Fully trained volunteers are available to talk, with no fear of being judged. 
 
You can contact the Nightline service +44(0)1509 227 650. Phone lines are open from 8pm until 8am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during term time. 
 
Loughborough Nightline also has an instant messaging service available between 8pm and midnight during opening hours. 
 

Faith and Spirituality

The Centre for Faith and Spirituality, based on the Loughborough campus, is the focus of religious, spiritual, and faith-based activities for both our campuses. Chaplains from the major world faiths offer support and guidance, whatever your religious or spiritual beliefs. 
 
The team works closely with faith groups located close to campus in London to ensure you have the opportunity to reach out to the community of people who share your faith. 

Disability Support

We are a dedicated support network, creating an inclusive and accessible environment for all students. Our experienced team is committed to providing assistance and accommodations tailored to your specific needs. Whether you have a physical, sensory, learning, or mental health disability, we are here to ensure that you have the necessary support and resources to succeed  
 
Our services include: 
  • Support, advice and guidance 
  • Recommending appropriate assessment arrangements 
  • Arranging one-to-one support specific to students needs 
  • Liaise with social services departments to help arrange funding for personal care needs (eligibility criteria applied)

Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) 
DSA is support to cover the study-related costs you have because of a mental health problem, long-term illness or any other disability. This can be on its own or in addition to any student finance you receive.

Disability Support Network (DSN) 
The DSN is a student-run association which represents disabled students at Loughborough University. 
 
The DSN is here to support and develop the community of students on campus who self-identify as either living with a visible or invisible disability. They also aim to educate and raise awareness of all disabilities on campus in order to make the university as accessible and inclusive as possible.

Counselling Services

We offer online counselling to all students at Loughborough University London. You can talk to experienced staff based at the Loughborough campus about any personal, social or emotional concern, whether or not it is affecting your work or studies.
 
Counselling can help you find ways forward, make decisions, gain new perspectives, discover solutions and come to terms with and manage challenging life events. If you are a current student with us and you think you would benefit from online counselling, you can contact the service here. 

Health Care

We recommend you register with a local GP who will be your first port-of-call should you have any health problems. Details on nearby GP surgeries and how to register can be found here.

Incident Reporting

We understand that incidents can occur, and we are here to support you every step of the way.  
 
Incidents can include but are not limited to:

  • Safeguarding 
  • Sexual violence 
  • Bullying / harassment 
  • Substance misuse
