They work for companies and organisations such as China Development Research Foundation, Elsevier Ltd, Image Line Communication, Institute of Psychiatry, Metropolitan Police Service, Oxfam, and X-Pert Med GmbH.

How to apply

100% of research impact rated ‘world-leading’. REF 2021

Our research

Our Centre for Research in Communication and Culture (CRCC) is a large, vibrant, interdisciplinary centre for communication, cultural and media analysis. Our research draws on and contributes to theories and methods in cultural and media studies, sociology, politics, psychology, history and memory studies, textual, visual and computational analysis, and geography.

Culture, Economy and Policy

Media and cultural industries are not only important sources of wealth-creation and employment but they can also create inequality through shaping everyday culture and public opinion.

Members of staff doing research in this area:

Language and Social Interaction

The way that people communicate with each other is fundamental to who we are, what we do, and how we live our lives.

Members of staff doing research in this area:

Memory and History

Media, Memory and History is a fast-growing area of expertise at Loughborough which provides a shared focus of research for scholars across the social sciences and humanities.

Nations

This broad research group is characterised by a common interest in studying processes, discourses and practices of migration, nation and exclusion/inclusion.

Communication

Around the world, communication is fundamental to politics and the role of media in society is deeply politicised.

Political and Cultural Theory

We’re interested in exploring and understanding the complex forces that shape our societies, how they change over time and how, if at all, actors can intervene to advance their goals.

ESRC Midlands Graduate School DTP

The Department of Communication and Media is proud to be part of the ESRC Midlands Graduate School DTP in partnership with Warwick, Nottingham, Birmingham, Aston and Leicester.
