One scholarship will be available for students starting their PhD studies at Loughborough University or Loughborough University London from October 2022. A full tuition fee scholarship and living stipend will be awarded on a competitive basis to students selected by the US Fulbright Commission and Loughborough University.
The Fulbright-Loughborough Doctoral Award is available for any academic discipline at Loughborough University or Loughborough University London.

Eligibility
- Candidates must be applying to study a full-time PhD in October 2022
- Candidates must fulfil the eligibility requirements of the US Fulbright Commission
- Candidates must also receive an offer to study a PhD at Loughborough University and fulfil all the necessary conditions of that offer. Please see information on entry requirements and English language requirements.
Value and duration
Loughborough University will cover 100% of the tuition fees for the 3-year duration of the PhD studies alongside a £14,000 living stipend, per year.

- Applicants can only select one Fulbright Doctoral Award to apply to.
March – September 2021
Candidates should liaise with potential Loughborough supervisors to discuss a suitable research proposal for their PhD studies and submit a Loughborough PhD application
- Candidate to include “letter of support” from the Loughborough supervisor in Fulbright application

Deadlines
The Fulbright applications close on 1 October 2021.
Candidates should have a letter of support from a Loughborough University supervisor prior to this date (1 October 2021) and an offer of study before January 2022.
It is advised therefore that students seek a Loughborough University supervisor no later than 1 September 2021 and submit a Loughborough University PhD application no later than 1 October 2021 in order to allow sufficient time to meet Award deadlines.
