One safe campus

We want you to the have the best time while you’re here, which is why your safety and wellbeing is one of our top priorities. Below are a just handful of ways we do this.

24/7 security across campus

Our security department operates 24/7, with security staff regularly patrolling the campus and surrounding halls. They respond and deal with all emergencies on the campus and can also assist you in relation to crime and traffic issues as well as other matters whenever other services are not available.

Safe and secure accommodation

All of our halls of residence have secure windows and doors which can be accessed by key/keypad or swipe card.

Hall Wardens, supported by sub-wardens are available in each of our halls of residence and provide pastoral and welfare support throughout the year.

Possessions insurance

Possessions insurance for items in your room is included in the cost of your accommodation. This covers a range of belongings, including sport and electrical equipment, clothes and frozen food.

Fire safety in halls of residence

At Loughborough University we take fire safety very seriously, with a high level of management on top of the life safety systems installed.

Fire alarms in each hall of residence are monitored by the duty staff 24/7, and staff ensure fire safety standards across our campuses are upheld. We have fire detection systems throughout our halls of residences and buildings, giving us early warning to any fire phenomenon. Our trained hall and warden staff (who live in or nearby the halls) are trained to investigate and ensure an evacuation is taking place, which is also supported by our experienced security team.

Free bike registration and storage

Our campus provides a bike-friendly environment, which is why it’s probably one of the most popular modes of transport for many of our students. As such, we have numerous secure bike racks dotted around campus, a number of which are under cover. For a full list of bike rack locations, visit our campus map and go to ‘Transport and Parking’.

If you do decide to bring your bike to campus we recommend that you register your bike with security. This way, if your bike is reported missing and recovered, it can easily be returned to you.
