Ongoing visa applications and appeals

Ongoing visa applications

If you have submitted a visa application within the UK, we will enrol you immediately, providing you can demonstrate that your visa application was submitted in-time and that you had the right to remain in the UK at the time of the application.  You should show the following documents:

  • Copy of your passport and most recent visa
  • Evidence of your visa application – copy of the online application front page, UKVI letter confirming receipt of your application, or visa extension scheme receipt from the Student Advice and Support Service.

If this is not possible or if your application was submitted some time ago, we will ask you to complete a form which authorises UKVI to share information about your immigration history/status. Please note that it may take UKVI several days to respond to such requests and you will not be permitted to register or start your programme during this time.

Ongoing immigration appeals

If you have an outstanding appeal against a UKVI decision to refuse your visa application, we will ask you to complete a form which authorises UKVI to share information about your immigration history/status. Please note that it may take UKVI several days to respond to such requests and you will not be permitted to register or start your programme during this time.

Change of circumstance

If you obtain a new visa, or your nationality and/or immigration status changes at any point during your studies, you must immediately inform the University.  Examples include becoming an EEA citizen and no longer requiring Tier 4 sponsorship, obtaining a Tier 2 visa, submitting an asylum claim or your permission to remain in the UK becoming invalid following the breakdown of a relationship.  In some cases, the change could affect your right to study and it is essential that the University is aware of this.
