What are the event timings?

The virtual Fair will start at 9.00 am and close at 5.00 pm.  The MS Teams channels/recordings will be available to our students for a period of time after the event has finished (yet to be decided).

How will the virtual fair work in regards to timings/what will it look like?

Other than the scheduled live presentations, the day is there for you to shape as you wish.  Each company will have their own channel where you could set various Q&A sessions, upload pre-recorded content, arrange separate break-out sessions or simply chat to students as they approach you throughout the day if required.  We strongly recommend that if you wish to be available at specific times, that you put this in the Chat or Files sections of your channel so students can see your availability.  We will try our best to direct students to your channels if we know you will be there.

How do I request a live presentation?

You can indicate your interest in presenting live either on the registration or request it by email to stemfair@mailbox.lboro.ac.uk

We will allocate presentation times to interested companies (duration to be confirmed).  The presentation will be hosted live within the company’s Team channel.  It is also possible to include a pre-recorded presentation to be viewed throughout the day too.

What should I upload to my channel?

Anything you feel is relevant for our students and the opportunities that you have available, this could be pre-recorded presentations (which we can also share in the main Video Halls if required), job vacancies, company posters, flyers, application forms etc.

How many colleagues can participate?

As many as you like!  We will require the names and individual email addresses of all colleagues who will be supporting your company channel.  Unfortunately a generic email account (eg HR@company.com) is not compatible.  This information will enable us to pre-register the email accounts and provide you with your channel link to share.

Do I have to attend all day?

The short answer is no, it is up to you how long you want to attend.  However, you will get more/better student engagement the longer you are available.  I know that most people who use it tend to have Teams running in the background on their computer whilst working on other things so hopefully that will work for most of you.

What Platform are you using?

Following the success of our 2020 event, we shall be using Microsoft Teams once again.

When will we receive our channel links?

These will be sent out during September so that you can access and start to add/upload content to your space.

Is there a limit on file sizes?

We don’t believe there is a file size limit on pre-recorded videos, we have uploaded 100mb files so far with no problems.  Most files can be dragged and dropped into the Chat space or uploaded in the Files section.

MS Teams technical support and training

If you are not familiar with Microsoft Teams, we will be offering guidance to assist you uploading videos/web links/additional information and explain how to use the 1:2:1 chats/video call functions.  Dates will be announced in due course for the training sessions.  We are also aiming to share some videos on how the fair will look/be navigated to familiarise yourself prior to the live event.

What other events can we get involved with on campus?

Contact our colleagues in the Employer Engagement Team or visit their webpage to see what opportunities are available across campus.

Unsure who to contact, please feel free to email stemfair@mailbox.lboro.ac.uk and we can forward your enquiry on to the relevant Team.

How do I advertise student vacancies?

Please use our free self-service system to upload your organisation’s vacancies to Loughborough University’s central vacancy portal, Careers Online. Guidance on how to do this is given here under ‘advertising your opportunities.’ Please make sure you do this before the date of the fair so that students will have easy access to the vacancies you’re promoting at the virtual event.

You can of course add vacancy advertisements to your company’s channel on Teams as well.
