This year's Start-Up Fund will be open from mid-October 2018 and is exclusively for Loughborough students and graduates.
If you have a business idea or existing business, you can now pitch for a grant of up to £5,000 to really kick start your venture.
Express your interest
We know that the Start-Up Fund is popular and, for that reason, we're introducing a new step to this year's process to make it easier for you to let us know you're interested in applying.
Simply complete the Expression of Interest form and email this to your relevant Student or Graduate Enterprise Adviser who will be in touch to arrange an initial meeting with you about the fund and your application.
Be invited to apply
Your Student or Graduate Enterprise Adviser will meet with you to discuss the idea you have developed or your existing business and will invite you to apply for the Start-Up Fund when they believe that you are ready.
You will need to wait until you are invited to apply before submitting your application, though you'll be able to submit it at any time from that point.
You will be expected to keep in touch with your Student or Graduate Enterprise Adviser, to access their support as you prepare your application, and to engage with Loughborough Enterprise Network (by attending their workshops and events) as much as possible.
It's easy to do so!
This year's process may have a third step, in the form of our Expression of Interest form, but it's still just as easy to do!
Submit your Expression of Interest form and, once you've liaised with your adviser, send us your application form. From there, we'll invite you to one of our Start-Up Fund panels (taking place once towards the end of each term - dates below) where you'll pitch to our panel for the opportunity to be awarded up to £5000 to kickstart your business.
The exact dates are to be confirmed, but you should expect the panels to take place at:
- Panel 1 - End of November / Beginning of December
- Panel 2 - March / April
- Panel 3 - May (before exams)
More support than ever!
As well as individual support from your Student and Graduate Enterprise Advisers, we'll also be running a Start-Up Fund Briefing session (24th October at 2pm in The Start-Up Lab) to introduce you to the fund, the criteria, terms and conditions and all you need to know about this new process.
We'll also hold a Presentation Practice session for those students who are ready to pitch to our first panel in December (which will take place later in November) for you to receive critical feedback on your presentation style and any materials you'll be using.
Ready to kickstart your business? Submit your Expression of Interest today.
