Information for undergraduate students

I’m an undergraduate finalist, when will my graduation ceremony take place?

Graduation ceremonies will be held at the Loughborough campus during the week commencing 12 April 2021 for 2020 undergraduate finalists.  We will confirm the exact date and time of your ceremony in early 2021.

When will I receive my invitation for the April 2021 ceremony?

We plan to contact graduands via email in early 2021 with information about how to book a place at the ceremony.

What date will appear on my degree certificate?

If your award was confirmed by the University Board on 21 July 2020, your certificate will show the date of 21 July 2020.  If your award is confirmed at a Board in the Special Assessment Period (SAP), the date will be shown as 17 September 2020.

What is the deadline for my results to be published in order to receive my certificate now and attend the April 2021 ceremony?

Your results should ideally be published by 31 July 2020.  This means that you will need to have cleared any remaining academic debt (including tuition and reassessment fees) before this date.  If you have a Mitigating Circumstances claim upheld and are awarded repeat attempts but have passed your programme and wish to decline these, you should aim to do so by 31 July 2020.

Due to the exceptional circumstances, certificates will also be issued to students whose results are confirmed by the University Board on 21 July 2020 and published no later than 30 September 2020.

Additionally, any undergraduate student who completes their programme during the Special Assessment Period and whose results are published by 30 September 2020 will also receive their degree certificate as soon as possible and be invited to the April 2021 ceremony.

When and how will I receive my degree certificate?

Certificates and transcripts (where applicable) may be posted or collected from the Loughborough campus. You must complete the form below to advise us of your preference.  If you wish to collect your certificate, or nominate someone to do so, we will be in touch to confirm a date and time.

We aim to post certificates at the very end of July/beginning of August for students whose results are published by 31 July 2020 and as soon as possible thereafter for students who results are released before the end of September.

Information for postgraduate students

I’m a postgraduate taught student or doctoral researcher, when will my graduation ceremony take place?

Your graduation ceremony will be held in December 2020.  We plan to contact graduands via email in November with information about how to book a place at the ceremony.

When and how will I receive my degree certificate?

If your results are published by 31 July 2020, the University will issue your certificate in late July/early August.  This means that you will need to have cleared any remaining academic debt (including tuition and reassessment fees) before this date.

Certificates and transcripts (where applicable) may be posted or collected from the Loughborough campus. You must complete the form below to advise us of your preference.  If you wish to collect your certificate, or nominate someone to do so, we will be in touch to confirm a date and time.  We aim to post certificates at the very end of July/beginning of August.

If your results are confirmed after 31 July 2020, you will be invited to a December 2020 ceremony and you will receive your certificate during the graduation ceremony.  You may alternatively arrange for your certificate to be posted or nominate someone to collect it for you on or after the date of the ceremony.  Further information can be found here.

What date will appear on my degree certificate?

If your award is confirmed by 31 July 2020, your certificate will show the date of your award as 21 July 2020 as this is the official award date we are using for the exceptional arrangements we have made for certificate issue in summer 2020.  If your award is confirmed after 31 July, it will show the date of your graduation ceremony in December 2020 (irrespective of whether or not you attend the ceremony).

Information for all students

How will my name appear on my degree certificate?

Your certificate is a formal record of your award and, as such, we prefer to use the official version of your name for graduation purposes.

Your name will appear in the form 'first name(s) surname / family name' (Titles and other awards are not included). If your full name follows a different convention, or you need to make any other changes to your name, please complete a Name Change form and email it with supporting evidence (e.g. passport or marriage certificate) to graduation@lboro.ac.uk. Changes cannot be made after the production of your certificate.

How will my documents be posted?

Your certificate and transcript will be sent via Royal Mail Signed For and we will notify you of the tracking number.  We regret that we are unable to send documents via courier. However, you may arrange and pay for a courier to collect your documents if you wish.

Do I have to pay for postage?

Since it has been necessary to postpone the July 2020 graduation ceremonies, we are not charging students for postage this summer.  If you have already paid the in absentia postage fee via the online store, please contact us at graduation@lboro.ac.uk and we will arrange a refund.  Please note that if you are a postgraduate student and do not receive your results by 31 July 2020, you will need to pay for the postage of your certificate after the December 2020 ceremonies.

How can I celebrate my success with the University in July?

We’re sure you will be celebrating your success with friends and family.  The Unviersity is also running a series of social media activities, asking for the Class of 2020 to share celebratory photographs and to save the date for a special activity taking place at 3pm BST on Wednesday 29 July 2020. To get involved, follow @lborouniversity and #LboroGrad2020 on social media, or visit the the dedicated Class of 2020 website.

Are any graduation souvenirs available now?

Yes, souvenirs will be available via the University’s online store and also from our official supplier, Campus Clothing.
