Loughborough student a Young Master at awards ceremony

Adam Allcock from the Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering has been honoured with the Most Employable Young Person award at the 2012 Young Masters Awards.

Adam Allcock with Dragon’s Den investor and Entrepreneur Country founder Julie Meyer The awards are organised by the network organisation Entrepreneur Country in association with Google. They aim to recognise and celebrate students, graduates and young entrepreneurs who are highly ambitious, driven and passionate about success.

Adam, currently studying for a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, was awarded Most Employable Young Person for demonstrating a determination and drive to develop himself above and beyond his academic requirements.

“I came across the competition through Loughborough’s Student and Graduate Enterprise pages and thought I would apply and see what happens. I honestly didn’t think I would get this far. So to win it and to have my skills acknowledged by such a prestigious award is just great.”

As well as taking various management and engineering internships to further his entrepreneurial knowledge, Adam founded a successful computer retailing business, where he managed a team of four staff, serviced 16,000 orders and generated a total turnover of £1.4million.

His entrepreneurial experience has also enabled him to provide management and business consultancy to a variety of companies.

Oliver Sidwell, alumnus and co-founder of the successful business RateMyPlacement, was also awarded the People’s Choice Award, which was voted for by peers and members of the community.
