Hall Sport
Hall Sport (also known as IMS), is a free programme and a great way to enjoy sport, socialise with friends and get the most out of your hall experience.
The programme is open to all Loughborough University students so whether you are currently living in halls or are affiliated with one, you can get involved.
Volleyball – Mixed League
- No University Volleyball Club/High Performance Players
- Max squad size of 10
- Points Grading: A
- Spring/Summer term only.
Rules
- The competition will be played on a pools basis with secondary seeded pools to provide the final placings for the competition.
- Matches will consist of the best of TWO sets each of 12 minutes.
- The score is decided by the sum of the scores from each set.
- Teams will have a maximum of 6 players on court at one time, 3 men and 3 women at all times.
- Rolling subsititutions are allowed during a break in play.
- If a team has less than 6 players they must play with 4 (2 male, 2 female). Games cannot begin with fewer than 4 players.
- Games must begin on time. At the referees discretion, a team will lose one game point for each minute that they are late for the start.
- There will be an opportunity to warm up for approximately five minutes prior to the official starting time.
- Captains will toss for choice of service or ends.
- In the event of a tie in any of the pools as a result of considering matches won, then the results shall be determined by taking points for and against into consideration and, if necessary the result of the match between the tying halls will be used. A team gaining a walk-over will be deemed to have won 30-0.
- A net touch awards a point to the opposing team
- You can not step onto the oppositions court
- The AU Volleyball Club will provide the officials for and run the competition
Beach Volleyball – Mixed One Day Event

Rules
1. The competition will be played on a pools basis with secondary knock out pools to provide the final placing’s for the competition.
2. a) Matches will be played over 3 sets playing to 21 (by 2 clear points)
b) Teams will have a maximum of 6 players on court at one time, 3 male and 3 female players.
c) Substitutes will be allowed as laid down in the rules of volleyball. Each team will be allowed three substitutions per set and a single time-out per set.
d) 4 substitutions per team
e) There will be an opportunity to warm up for approximately five minutes prior to the official starting time.
3. Captains will toss for choice of service or ends.
4. A team gaining a walk-over will be deemed to have won 3-0.
