Welcome to Loughborough University
Loughborough University is a name synonymous with sport, with an illustrious history for its contribution around the world. This global recognition for exceptional athletes, facilities, coaching, research, enterprise and partnerships was highlighted with the award of ‘Best University for Sport in the World’ in the 2022 QS Higher Education league tables for the 6th year running. It is this sporting heritage and our commitment to ongoing excellence that sets us apart as we continue to strive for success for everyone involved in sports across all levels.
We look forward to welcoming you to Loughborough University for a fun and fast day of racing around our world-famous campus. We are proud to be hosting this national level event, and seeing many familiar faces returning to Loughborough after last years edition. There will be many staff and current student’s alike from within the cycling club and beyond, helping to make this day possible, so please do come over for a chat at the event village, and ask any questions you might have about the university and cycling programmes.
Race Regulations
The race will be run under the Technical Regulations of British Cycling and the 2023 Youth Circuit Series regulations.
Key Information
Rider Conduct
All riders are expected to race in a safe manner. Any riders taking on gels must return them to their pockets and not litter the course. Bottles should not be discarded. If riders wish to have a camera fitted to their bike please contact the event organiser to seek approval from British Cycling.
Car Parking
Parking is at Loughborough College car park, accessed from Epinal Way Postcode – LE11 3BT
Registration
Registration will take place in the event village (near the finish line). Please allow plenty of time for bike checks prior to registration. There are no specific time slots in which each race need to register.
Gear Check
All youth and junior riders must be gear checked before sign on / collection of number. The gear check will be positioned adjacent to the registration area. The gear check will be carried out by the rider
and overseen by an official. Please ensure that your gearing meets the British Cycling Regulations as follows:
Youth B = 6.45m
Youth A = 6.93m
Race management will not be responsible for any adjustments to gearing. If your bike fails, you will need to adjust it and present back to gear check to be checked again.
We ask that all competitiors park considerably in the event car park so there is enough room for everyone. Please use one space per vehicle. No gazebos are to be errected in the car park. If you are coming in a large vehicle such as a motorhome or van and would like some additional space please park in the overflow car park (this is a 10 minute walk to the HQ).
The Race Circuit
All races will take place on our true to name, criterium course, with a steep hill and numerous 90 degree turns to test riders both physically and technically. Only the very best all round riders will cross the finish line first.

Prize presentations will be 10 minutes after the race has finished. Live results will be available during the event however these will be provisional. The final verified results will be published on www.britishcycling.org.uk

First place in each of the youth races will also receive a Loughborough Cycling Academy laboratory experience day, and put through their paces in similar physiological tests to our academy riders. There will be an additional prize (£25) to the first 3rd cat rider in the Men’s elite criterium. Additional prizes from our sponsors and partners will be awarded on the day.
