Lightning Camps, Community Visits
Throughout the year several Lightning camps will be taking place in conjunction with County Cricket Boards in the East and West Midlands. There will be camps for female All Stars Cricket participants as well as girls aged 9-14 years old.
These camps are a great opportunity to be coached by ECB coaches and Lightning players and also include a Lightning goodie bag that includes a wristband, water bottle and Lightning tshirt.
Community visits range from visits to local cricket clubs to continue to promote and support women’s cricket in the region, to Rainbows and Brownies to help introduce more and more women and girls to play cricket in a fun and safe environment.
Specialist high level coaching from one of the best. Designed to offer support to all coaches working within Women’s and Girls’ cricket.
An insight in to cricket disciplines including batting, bowling, strength and conditioning for coaches to use in their club or county setting to get the best out of their players. The chance to speak with and question Rob Taylor (Lightning head coach) and a Lightning player.
Soft Ball festivals
After the success of the last few years through the ECB initiative, this year we are partnering up with local county boards to provide further soft ball cricket opportunities to females in the region.
Soft Ball Cricket is easy to play. If you’ve never played before you’ll be sure to pick it up really quickly. There are two teams of six to eight people. Everyone gets the chance to bat, bowl and field.
Each game takes no more than 45 minutes, and the team with the highest score wins; unless the scores are tied in which case it’s a draw.
Local cricket clubs within the region will be hosting the festivals and cannot wait to welcome you to their club. You can enter as a team or as an individual.
Lightning schools programme
There are many opportunities for schools to get involved with Lightning Cricket. Our current offer includes sessions within your school for girls of all ages and abilities.
These sessions are delivered by our Lightning Ambassadors and we can base the session upon the needs of the school.
There are also opportunities to come and visit our world class training facilities here at Loughborough and experience a day in the life of a lightning player.
