Loughborough University’s Paralympic Games is already off to a great start as Crystal Lane-Wright won a silver medal on the opening day of action.

Lane-Wright, who graduated from the University with a master's degree in Sport Nutrition in 2013, set a new personal best during qualifying before adding to her personal collection of Paralympic Games medals. The full report can be found HERE.

Elsewhere, ParalympicsGB’s women’s wheelchair basketball team suffered an opening Group A defeat to Canada at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza.

The side, which featured alumnae pair Laurie Williams and Amy Conroy, former student Jude Hamer, and soon to be student Siobhan Fitzpatrick, were edged out 54 – 73 in their first competitive game for 18 months.

The team won’t have to wait long to take to the court again as they face hosts Japan tomorrow at 3:15am BST.
