Loughborough Lightning is in positive mood ahead of their 2020 Vitality Netball Superleague season opener against Team Bath this weekend.

Sara Bayman’s side travel to Birmingham in front of the Sky cameras on Saturday and mood in the camp is high after a successful pre-season.

“The mood in the camp is really positive. We’ve had a really decent pre-season with 12-13 weeks of intense work and now everyone is just excited to play,” explained Sara.

“The team is looking like it has been together a lot longer than it has which is testament to the players. We’re really happy with how recruitment went in the close season and it’ll be good to see the new players pull on the Lightning dress.”

Lightning face a difficult start to the season with matches against Team Bath, Strathclyde Sirens, Manchester Thunder and Saracens Mavericks, all within the first month of the new campaign.

Sara added:

“We have a tough start to the league playing some of the top teams, so we need to make sure we start strongly.”
