After a week of announcements, Lightning Netball is pleased to add a fifth player to their 2020 line-up, with young shooter Lucy Parize returning to the fold.

Parize’s debut season with Lightning in 2019 went from strength to strength with her calm, focused energy on court giving Head Coach Sara Bayman plenty of options within the squad in high-pressure matches.

After previously impressing in the Wasps Academy and earning herself her first Superleague contract at just 20 years of age, the 21-year-old accountant will split her time between her hometown of Birmingham and Loughborough, where she will combine her training and career for the forthcoming season.

Of her return Parize said:

“I’m very excited to be back for another year with Lightning. I can’t wait to hit the ground running in training with the girls and show the other teams what we can do.”

The young goal-attack continues to build on her experience from England youth programmes where she has featured at both U19 and U21 level. Her dominance in age group netball also shone through last season with her strong performances in the Lightning U21 side, as well as Superleague.

Franchise Director, Olivia Murphy, was keen to share her excitement in Parize’s return:

“We are really excited to have Lucy back with us this year. She was a prominent member of our U21 team last year and made a significant impact every time she took to the Superleague court.

“Lucy has already shown her desire and commitment to improve with additional sessions with Sara and her support team. She will be one to watch this year.”

Lucy joins Sam May, Ella Clark, Nat Panagarry and Hannah Joseph as the Lightning players to sign for the new season. With more signings to be announced over the coming weeks, be sure to keep your eyes peeled to find out who will be joining them on court next season.

You can catch Loughborough Lightning in action for the first time at the Season Opener event on Saturday 22nd February 2020 when they face Team Bath in a bid to rewrite history after last year’s bronze medal defeat.

Tickets for the event, that features every Superleague team in one venue, are on sale now and selling fast, so why not secure your seats now.
