Joseph re-signs for eighth consecutive year

Hannah Joseph

Loughborough Lightning can today confirm that mid-court powerhouse Hannah Joseph will return to court for her eighth Superleague season in purple.

Joining the side in 2011 to combine her training with study at Loughborough University, Joseph has since cemented her place within the programme and is looked up to as a leader within a young side.

Her experience with the side and its programme means she can now provide vital knowledge and support to incoming student athletes wishing to mirror her impressive Superleague career.

Joseph, who also currently works as a Sports Coach at Uppingham School, credits the University and the opportunities presented to her for landing the role:

“Going from Lightning into a school certainly required me to take a level of professionalism. I can now impart my knowledge of transitioning into a student-athlete for those wishing to follow the same path when going to University.”

Of her return to court for the 2020 Vitality Netball Superleague season, Joseph commented:

“I’m really excited to be back. It’s been good to have a long break after the season but now I’m excited to get going and join up with the new team. I’m keen to see what the new characters are like and then work on how we gel together on court and off.

“The goal is always to make top four and last year we did that. However, we just missed out on a finals spot so we were pretty disappointed. So, for this year, we’ll set our sights on top four again and then look to push for a place in the Grand Final. “

Head Coach Sara Bayman added:

“Hannah was a key part of our attacking group last year and I’m excited to see her connections build and develop further this season.  As a senior player, Hannah has the capacity to be a leader within the squad and her athleticism and power give our game a different dimension.”

Hannah joins Sam May, Ella Clark and Nat Panagarry as the fourth Lightning player to sign for the new season. With more signings to be announced over the coming weeks, be sure to keep your eyes peeled to find out who will be joining them on court next season.

You can catch Loughborough Lightning in action for the first time at the Season Opener event on Saturday 22nd February 2020 when they face Team Bath in a bid to rewrite history after last year’s bronze medal defeat.
