Daley-Mclean and Scarratt to make season debut against Bristol

Katy

Katy Daley-Mclean and Emily Scarratt are set to make their season debuts this weekend as Lightning Rugby travel to Bristol.

Rhys Edwards’ side is set to include seven changes as Lightning look to build upon their opening day win against DMP Sharks.

The game, which forms part of a double header with the Lightning development team, who take on Bristol Bears 2nds in the Development league, will kick off at 12pm at Shaftsbury park.

The return of England stalwarts Daley-Mclean and Scarratt will bolster the side’s backline adding further experience to the young side. Canada International Daleaka Menin is also set to start as prop after an electric performance off the bench last week.

Of his selection Head Coach Rhys Edwards commented:

“This weekend sees us travel to Bristol Bears, a game we struggled with last year just before Christmas with a relatively inexperienced squad.

It is great to welcome back Katy and Emily to the team who will add some real experience and calm in terms of our game plan.

DMP last week was a tough game but I was really please at how we problem solved throughout the game. This week it is really important that we control the tempo, take opportunities when they are presented. We cannot let Bristol get a hold of the game and will need to stop their star players getting hold of the ball from the start.”

Lightning’s next home fixture is on the 5thOctober 2019 against TP15s champions Saracens. – Get your tickets HERE
