Holywell Fitness Centre reopens its doors after £1m investment

Loughborough University’s Holywell Fitness Centre has officially reopened its doors following a £1m redevelopment.

Loughborough University’s Holywell Fitness Centre has officially reopened its doors following a £1m redevelopment.

The major investment sees a complete redesign of the space allowing more people to train in new and innovative ways in a state-of-the-art environment.

Holywell sees the world’s first install of Technogym Artis equipment, providing the ultimate training experience by integrating connectivity, sustainability, design, and movement.

The UK’s largest Outrace training rig covering circa 70 sq. metres has also been erected, allowing users access to several disciplines including weightlifting and strength and conditioning work alongside a range of new gym floor classes.

Alongside this, innovative Myzone technology has been added to allow new heart rate-based training sessions with live results projected on the gym floor. The focus is to reward effort over fitness, with these new classes adding a new dimension to the training environment.

To complement this, state-of-the-art flooring laid over 850 sq. metres has also been provided by International athletic flooring specialist, PLAE.

Rich Ellis, Gym Development Lead, Loughborough University, said:

“The £1m investment into Holywell Fitness Centre shows our dedication to reinvesting into the facilities here on campus.

"The refurbishment makes our facility industry leading in its design and function. Our team of instructors has the opportunity to express their diverse skill sets across the range of training modalities that the new lay out now supports.

"We are confident that our new gym is up there with the very best of its type, and in conjunction with the accompanying gym floor activity programme, we expect the user experience for students, staff, partners and community members alike to be significantly enhanced.

"We're excited to showcase this fantastic space to our members.”

Fitness experts at Holywell Fitness Centre also offer the very best in group classes which are designed to complement individual training programmes. To see what is on offer, visit here.
