Lightning’s semi-final clash with Harlequins confirmed

Today it has been confirmed that Lightning will take on second place Harlequins Ladies in the knock-out semi-final at Twickenham Stoop on Sunday 14th April 2019 at 2pm.

With two weeks to prepare for the knock-out fixture Lightning will look to recreate their first performance against the Surrey based side, which saw them take the win 41-17 in front of a home crowd.

Lightning, however, will be only too aware of the damage the Harlequins Ladies side can cause if given possession, having suffered a 43-7 defeat last time they travelled to Surrey Sports Park.

Speaking about the semi-final Head Coach Rhys Edwards said:

“This year was all about going one step further and making sure we made it into the TP15’s play-offs which we managed to secure early in the season which was great.

Facing Harlequins in the semi-final is a fantastic opportunity to showcase how far the women’s game has come over the past few years, and the fact the game is at the Stoop is great and hopefully we will get as large a crowd as they had last week.

With a game each this season, it sets the semi-final up to be an exciting one. We are confident that if we play with focus and apply our game plan we can win and kick on to the final.”

The winner of this game will go straight to the final which is being played at Northampton Saints' Franklin's Gardens ground on Saturday 27 April.

If you cannot make the game the semi-final will be streamed live by England Rugby and you will be able to watch on as well as on England Rugby Facebook and YouTube channels.
