Loughborough University welcomed UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) to campus.

Loughborough University has welcomed UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) to campus as part of its ongoing commitment to promoting clean sport.

UKAD, the organisation responsible for protecting sport in the United Kingdom from doping, held an inclusive all-day educational event at the University’s recently refurbished Powerbase gym. Visitors had the chance to meet elite athletes including World Champion powerlifter, Ali Jawad, as well as having the opportunity to get their hands on several giveaways.

John Steele, Executive Director of Sport, Loughborough University, explained:

“We were thrilled to welcome UKAD onto campus as ethical performance is at the heart of Loughborough Sport. All our performance athletes are provided with an ongoing clean sport education, which extends to bespoke individual workshops relevant to their chosen discipline.

“We’re passionate about raising awareness of the positive values in a high-performance environment and by working alongside organisations such as UKAD we hope to spread that hugely important message even further.”

Loughborough University contracts UKAD to conduct no-notice testing across its varied performance programmes. Loughborough also follows a ‘food first’ approach within its support structures and partners with leading supplement supplier, Maximuscle.

Maximuscle commits to only providing batch tested products, with Loughborough’s nutrition team on hand to support performance athletes to accurately advise on food and supplement intake.
