Loughborough Lightning's Amelia Harper has been named England U-20 captain.

Six rugby players from Loughborough Lightning have been selected to represent England in the U20 Women’s Tri-Nations Cup opener, held at the University.

Bryony Field, Jodie Mallard, Anya Richmond, Ellen Ramsbottom and Emma Hardy have been all selected for the England team, with Amelia Harper also named captain.

The tournament sees England, Canada and the USA face each other in a series of three matches.

The first match on 20 July saw England triumph over the USA 62-0 and they are hoping to repeat this success on Sunday 28 July in their match against Canada.

Rhys Edwards, Head of Rugby, Loughborough University, said:

“I am incredibly proud that so many Loughborough Lightning players have been selected for the team. It is a fantastic opportunity for them to gain international level experience.”
