Lightning continue their winning ways today, beating Worcester Warriors 50-26 in front of a home crowd.

It only took three minutes for Rhona Lloyd to secure the first points of the game for Lightning, taking three from the tee.

It wasn’t long before a push by the forwards allowed Jenny Maxwell to score the first of her two tries and extend Lightning’s lead.

It was Warriors turn to score following a quick lineout in their own 5m allowed their backs to open up the Lightning defence and dot down between the posts.

The one try difference was short lived however, as moments later Lightning’s Daleaka Menin thundered over the line - shortly followed by Sarah Hunter. Maxwell and Lloyd both crossed for their second of the game with Nelson adding the conversions to see the home side head into half time 38 -7 up.

After half time it was Worcester that came out firing, with slick handling of the ball from the backs allowing Lydia Thompson to score her second of the game.

Scrum half replacement Megan Davey added to the Lightning tally, as she edged her way around the scrum, and dotted down between the posts, making the score 45-14.

Following the break where prior Worcester spent much of the half defending it was their turn to attack again. Utilising their speed on the wing the Warriors backs sliced through the Lightning defence to score twice, closing the score to 45 - 26

It was Lightning that secured the final points in the closing minute of the game, with Sarah Hunter scoring in the corner to close out the game and take the win 50-26.
