Lightning sign England Hooker Lark Davies ahead of 2019/20 Tyrrells Premier 15s season

Lark Davies

Loughborough Lightning Rugby is excited to unveil that England Hooker, Lark Davies, will join the squad ahead of the 2019/20 Tyrrells Premier 15s season

With 21 international caps to her name, Davies joins Loughborough Lightning from Worcester Warriors after captaining the side for two years and is set to make her debut when the season gets underway on Saturday 21st September.

Making her first senior international start in 2018 against Italy in the Six Nations, Lark has since become a regular in the England starting line-up, featuring in all five games of the 2019 Women’s Six Nations, and aiding the Red Roses to a Grand Slam win.

Her impressive form at both international and domestic level saw Lark rewarded with a full-time rugby contract with England in January and selection in the Red Roses squad that finished second in the recent Super Series in San Diego.

Speaking about her move to Lightning, Lark said:

“I am really excited for the opportunity to join Lightning this season. I know moving club will present new challenges, however, I am excited to explore the opportunities and support that Lightning can give me.

“After visiting the campus, seeing the facilities available to the Lightning players and meeting Rhys Edwards and the support staff, i knew it was the right decision to move. Having played with quite a few of the girls at England and age-group level, I feel the transition into the squad will be relatively smooth and I am very excited to get started.”

Alongside Lark, fellow England forwards Cath O’Donnell and Sarah Hunter return to Lightning for the upcoming season after finishing second in a tough Super Series in the USA.

England fly-half Katy Daley-Mclean and Centre Emily Scarratt also sign for another year, looking to build upon their partnership at club, as well at international level.

Speaking about his new signings, Head Coach Rhys Edwards said:

“Having Lark relocate and join us from Worcester Warriors is a big statement in terms of what our programme entails and how we can support players.

“She is a prominent player in the Tyrrells Premier 15s, having captained Worcester Warriors for the past two seasons and being an England player - her quality and experience will be invaluable. Her leadership and ability to not only make an impact at set pieces but around the park will make a significant difference to us.”
