Tell us a little bit about yourself (hobbies, interests and background):

I really love team sports and the sense of community that they bring. I also am passionate about design, hence my degree, but I enjoy the use of media within sport and just being creative in general.

How did you first get involved in volunteering within sport at Loughborough?

In my second year I was the sport sec for the design school, which allowed me to see behind the scenes of how sport in run within Loughborough Sport. I was amazed how student lead it was and was motivated to get as many people involved as possible to make them aware of the many opportunities we have!

During your years at Loughborough what have you got involved in through volunteering within sport?

Now being in my final year, I am more involved than ever. I am currently on the Social Sport Exec running our social media, to try and give people the opportunity to get involved with fun, free and competitive sport. I am also currently a badminton activator for the My Lifestyle programme which I love as I enjoy helping people to improve as well as developing my own coaching style.

What has your experience volunteering been like whilst at Loughborough?

Volunteering with the different strands of Loughborough sport has allowed me to see how the different offers give the chance for everyone no matter there sporting ability to get involved. I have loved volunteering as if can sometimes be challenging but so rewarding.

How has being involved with Loughborough Sport helped you develop and progress (personally and professionally)?

I have loved every moment of my volunteering as it has allowed me to work with a variety of different people from different backgrounds which has helped me grow and lean so many skills that have made me more confident and definitely more employable.

What’s the best advice you could give to a Loughborough student looking to get involved in volunteering & gain the most out of their university experiences?

Get Involved! Sometimes I think Loughborough Students take for granted all that we have offered to us. Loughborough Sport provides so many opportunities that other universities and other jobs don’t offer so get involved.

Finally, what do you enjoy most about volunteering?

What I enjoy the most about volunteering it that you get the opportunity to be involved with a great team of like-minded people that all work towards providing great opportunities for others to appreciate and love sport as much as I do!
