Tell us a little bit about yourself (hobbies, interests and background):

During my time at Loughborough I have competed for Team GB Tae Kwon Do and have been lucky enough to travel and compete internationally. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Loughborough, it has given me the opportunity to not only progress as an athlete but as a coach.

What Sports volunteering did you get involved in whilst at Loughborough?

I have volunteered with Loughborough Athletics as a strength and conditioning coach.

What was your experience volunteering been like whilst at Loughborough?

Volunteering gave me the opportunity to shadow some great coaches and learn from their experiences. My mentor Nathan Bullock was brilliant, he constantly challenged me and provided lots of feedback, he has helped take my coaching to a new level.

How has being involved with Loughborough Sport helped you develop and progress (personally and professionally)?

Working with top level athletes in preparation for upcoming British Univerisity & College Sports (BUCS) and international competitions was a great experience, and I have learnt a considerable amount of practical knowledge which I would have not gained through my master’s degree alone.

What’s the best advice you could give to a Loughborough student looking to get involved in volunteering & gain the most out of their university experiences?

Having the opportunity to work alongside elite level coaches and athletes is an invaluable experience. Volunteering Loughborough Sport sounds very impressive on a CV and has definitely aided in my search for a career.
