2023/24 Briefing Sessions
We're hosting a series briefing sessions on each of our strands for you to find out about the variety of opportunities to develop you personally and professionally through sport whilst at Loughborough University. Sign up for the briefings via the CVA Portal linked below!
Monday 2nd October
CVA General Briefing - 18:30 EHB110A
The CVA will be holding a briefing session for anyone wanting to know more about all the opportunities we offer. If you are unsure what strand you're interested and want an overview of the CVA, please come along to this session to get more information and ask any questions you may have!
The briefing session will be held at 18:30 on the 2nd of October and will last no more than an hour.
Tuesday 3rd October
Performance Support Briefing - 18:30 EHB110A
The CVA will be holding a briefing session on the Performance Support strand. You'll hear from a variety of Loughborough Sport's practitioners who'll introduce what they do and give an overview of the opportunities available to get involved. There will also be time for a Q&A for you to ask any questions to our practitioners.
This briefing will be held on Tuesday 3rd October at 18:30
Coaching & Officiating Briefing - 19:30 EHB110A
The CVA will be holding a briefing session on the strands coaching and officiating in the Loughborough programmes. If you are interested in coaching or officiating and want to know more, please come along to this session to get more information and ask any questions you may have!
The briefing session will be held at 19:30 on the 3rd of October and will last no more than an hour.
Wednesday 4th October
Events Management Briefing - 18:30 EHB110A
The CVA will be holding a briefing session on our Events Management strand. If you are interested in sports events and events management and want to know about all our opportunities and how you can get involved, please come along to this session to get more information and ask any questions you may have.
The session will be as short as possible and informal.
The briefing session will be held on Wednesday 4th October at 18:30pm.
Media, Marketing & Communications Briefing - 19:30 EHB110A
The CVA will be holding a briefing session on the media, marketing & communications strand. If you are interested in media, marketing and communications and want to know about all our opportunities and how you can get involved, please come along to this session to get more information and ask any questions you may have.
This short, informal session will be held on Wednesday 4th October at 19:30pm
Thursday 5th October
Tennis Coaching & Officiating Briefing - 18:30 Tennis Seminar Room 2
The CVA will be holding abriefing session on coaching and officiating in Tennis . If you are interested in finding out more about the pathways within tennis coaching and officiating and want to know more, please come along to this session to get more information and ask any questions you may have.
The briefing session will be held at 18:30 on the 5th of October.
Volunteer Zambia Sport 2024 Briefing Session - 18:30 Tennis & Squash Seminar Room 1
Come and find out all about Volunteer Zambia Sport 2024
Volunteer Zambia’s focus is about:
- Working collaboratively with Zambian coaches, and sport facilitators within hub-sites to improve best practice, give feedback and share knowledge
- Sport Development: Developing and enhancing sport facilitation (as this enables SIA and other service providers the ability to change more lives through intervention)
- Make a change to the lives of young people in Zambia (Particularly women and girls)
There are 4 roles available for VZ 2024:
- Women's Football Development Officer
- Netball Development Officer
- Basketball Development Oficer
- Media, Marketing & Communications Development Officer
Being part of Volunteer Zambia is a big commitment. It’s hard work, time consuming and requires a full 12 month commitment.
This includes:
- Fundraising both an individual (£2000) & group target (£5000) – £15,000 in total
- Meeting weekly with the LU staff lead and other Volunteer Zambia students
- Gaining as much additional experience / knowledge as possible in your specialist area prior to going to Zambia
- Attending both the LU induction and the wider Volunteer Zambia induction in April 2024
- Being in Zambia for 8 weeks (between June & Oct 2024)
- Helping, supporting & mentoring the following year’s Volunteer Zambia students

Coaching & Officiating Briefing in Football, Netball, Hockey, Rugby, and Basketball - 19:00 WAVB001
The CVA will be holding a briefing session on coaching and officiating pathways within Football, Netball, Hockey, Rugby and Basketball. Delivered by the CVA, this briefing will provide information about the opportunities available and how to get involved.
This session will be on the 9th of October at 19:00 in Wavy top building - WAVB001
Tuesday 10th October
Coaching in Schools - 18:30 Dan Maskell Seminar room
The CVA will be holding a Coaching in Schools Briefing. Delivered by the CVA, this briefing will provide an overview of the opportunities available and how to get involved in coaching in schools at Loughborough.
This briefing will be at 18:30 on Tuesday 10th October in Dan Maskell

Football Officiating Briefing - 18:30 Netball Badminton Seminar Room
