Chief Operating Officer

Richard Taylor

‌Richard Taylor became the Chief Operating Officer for Loughborough University in September 2013.

He is a trustee of the Council for the Advancement & Support of Education (CASE).

Previously Richard was the Deputy Registrar (and before that Director of Corporate Affairs & Planning) at the University of Leicester. He joined Leicester in 2003 after holding posts at Durham and Loughborough universities.

He grew up in Barnsley, South Yorkshire and attended Barnsley College before studying at Durham University where he was Students’ Union President in 1994-5.

He lives local to Loughborough and is married with two children.

  • Strategic Leadership in the overall development and management of the University's non-academic operational and support services

  • Line manager for the Academic Registrar and Secretary to Council and the Directors of Facilities Management, imago, Human Resources, Student Services, IT Services, Sports Development Centre, Marketing and Communications, Arts, Health, Safety and Environment, Capability Enhancement, Change Projects.

  • The development of commercial income-generating functions, activities and capabilities within and across all parts of the University.

  • Lead for disaster and business continuity planning

  • Lead for the physical and environmental sustainability of the University
