Professor Chris Linton is the Acting Vice-Chancellor and President, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost of Loughborough University.
He studied as an undergraduate at Jesus College, Oxford and obtained his PhD from the University of Bristol in 1988.
He moved to Loughborough in 1993 and prior to becoming Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor he was Dean of the Faculty of Science. Before that he served for six years as Head of the School of Mathematics.
Professor Linton's research focuses on mathematical techniques associated with wave diffraction theory.
The Vice-Chancellor is the academic and executive head for the University.
- Responsible for the delivery of the strategic and operational plans that have been agreed by our governing body, the University Council.
- Works closely with the Academic Leadership Team (ALT), who support the work of all aspects of the University.
- Special responsibilities for the advancement of the University, through the development of relationships with partners and supporters worldwide.
- Statutory reporting duties to the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
