Problems with your Landlord

These pages provide general guidance on problems you may experience with your landlord or letting agent during your tenancy.

If your landlord is not carrying out repairs or you are unhappy with the landlords/ letting agents’ behaviour, you should first report the issue to your landlord/ letting agent directly. You should keep details of any reports made for your reference.

These pages provide guidance on:

    • Disrepair
    • Harassment
    • Illegal eviction

If your landlord is not carrying out repairs in a timely manner or not at all, this is called disrepair. For more information on disrepair, have a look at the Disrepair page linked below.

Alternatively, if your landlord is harassing you or if you think that you are being harassed have a look at the page on Harassment, linked below, for more information.

If you fear that you are being evicted, know that there is a process which needs to be followed by the landlord. If this is not done, then the eviction might be an illegal eviction. For more information have a look at the page on illegal eviction linked below.

If you are experiencing problems with your landlord / Letting agent, you can get advice and support from the Student Support and Advice Service.
