The methodology used for the project is bespoke to Loughborough and combines elements of Programme and Project Management, Systems Thinking and Change Management techniques. Its methodology and approach has also been, and will continue to be, informed via comments and suggestions from Academic and Professional Services Leadership Teams, as well as University Senate and Council.

Phase 1 of the project was focused on identifying what takes up people’s time that we might stop or do differently, as well as identifying (potential) areas of tension in these findings. Although the initial work of Phase 1 ended in May 2022 to enable the prioritisation work required for Phase 2, its fact-finding work will remain active and open throughout the project to ensure that all annual work can be considered and that colleagues can raise additional challenges or suggestions on an ongoing basis.

Phases 2 and 3 will focus on delivery of an agreed set of priorities and workstreams, as agreed by the Programme Board alongside appropriate consultation with key stakeholders and senior leadership teams.
