Tip 1 - Visit our libraries
Visit the Pilkington Library at Loughborough or the Library at our London campus to see the resources and facilities available to you. Staff at our help desks will be pleased to answer any queries you have or show you around.
Tip 2 - Find your books
Use our easy to search online catalogue to help to you locate books, articles and other information available in the Library and online. You will find the recommended reading for your modules on our reading list system.
Tip 3 - Borrow your books
Borrow and return books using our self service machines and follow the easy on screen instructions. You will need your University ID card to borrow books but you don’t need it to return them. You can print a receipt but we’ll also email you to confirm the items you have borrowed. Check your account online by logging in to the catalogue. There is lots more information about borrowing on our website.
Tip 4 -Access our online resources
Explore the vast range of online resources available through the Library Catalogue and specialist databases for your subject. You will need a password for certain resources and also for off-campus use. If you are studying off campus, we recommend you use the University’s VPN system.
Tip 5 - Get connected
Get help and advice on all things IT at our friendly PC Clinic. IT staff can help with connecting your personal devices to the Wi-Fi network and offer advice about storing and managing your documents.
Tip 6 - Print, copy, scan
Top up your online account for all your printing and copying across campus. Our libraries have printer/copier/scanners for printing in either black and white or colour. You can also connect your personal device to print on campus. Staff at the PC Clinic can help you with this.
Tip 7 - Get the Know How
Come along to one of our regular Get the Know How academic skill sessions for help with finding information, essay writing, referencing and other essential knowledge. You’ll also find a range of study advice from our advice sheets.
Tip 8 - Get help with your subject
View our online subject guides to help your find information on your subject area, what the best resources to use are and quick referencing tips to use in your coursework. They also have the contact details for your Academic Librarian.
Tip 9 - Escape with a book
Take a break from your text books and browse our leisure reading section on Level 4. We have a range of graphic novels, modern fiction, autobiographies and well-being books available for anyone to borrow.
