Data and Systems Integration Service
What we do
Data and Systems Integration Service provides the ability to integrate data and IT systems in a coordinated and consistent way. We can assist system owners in understanding the best way to integrate with other sources of data, and we can design the integration and build it according to a set of consistent technical standards. consists of processes, technology and service governance that deliver consultancy, analysis and integrations from concept to transition into service.
Loughborough University’s IT systems have grown organically through many projects and operational changes. IT Services and IT system vendors have built many automated integrations between systems, without any central coordination. Because any given system may have several other systems connected to it, a change to one system can have knock-on effects on several other dependent systems, and these effects can potentially spread across many “downstream” systems. This situation constrains IT and business change projects and increases the costs of supporting the university IT systems. Recent changes to data protection laws require us to ensure we only use data for the purpose in which it was gathered, and unmanaged IT integrations can lead to data being accidentally used in a way that is not lawful.
This service provides the ability to integrate data and IT systems in a coordinated and consistent way to minimise the knock-on effects of changes to IT systems and ensure that data is used for the correct purposes.
Who is it for?
IT system owners who need to integrate their systems with others, IT projects that are planning to integrate systems and business change initiatives that require new data to present in IT systems.
