To keep your Windows computer running well switch on System Restore

  • If your system does get corrupted, this allows you to restore it back to a working version and recover any files.
  • Instructions on how to do this can be found here.

Improve your PC performance by:

Anti-Virus Software

Importance of Anti-Virus:

No matter how carefully you are, you still need to take the pre-caution of having an UP-TO-DATE antivirus program on your machine. An Antivirus program protects your computer from viruses, worms and other online threats. Malware can harm your device in several different ways and you can infect your system by just visiting a fake website or clicking on an email attachments or link:

  • Damage your files
  • Access your personal data
  • Slow down your PC
  • Make disks unreadable
  • Can make copies of itself
  • Capture your email address and password
  • Corrupt or delete your data

Reboot

Importance of rebooting laptops and not just hibernating:

Your Machine or software often needs to be shutdown/Restarted in order to apply crucial software or security updates. Just closing the lid isn’t always enough as this may not allow your machine to work properly. It’s also a good idea to shut down (or at least restart) your PC occasionally as sometimes things that are wrong can’t resolve themselves until everything has stopped running. Microsoft recommend restarting about once a week:
