Warning: Phishing Scam
2:00PM, 28 March 2018
Please be advised that a phishing scam is currently circulating the university and is seemingly sent from a Loughborough University account. The email is advertising a job vacancy and is requesting recipients to reply with personal details, bank information and a personal email address.
Please do not reply to this email or send any sensitive details to unknown senders.
There are no links within the email, however, replying to the email with your personal details and bank information, will compromise those accounts.
Please take the following steps, if you have...
- received the email / replied - do not engage with them any further and delete the email(s)
- sent your personal email address - take steps to secure your personal account
- received a reply from a Gmail account - block the sender via your Lboro account and/or personal account (DO NOT block any Lboro email addresses)
- sent your bank details - contact your bank immediately
Should you have any concerns or queries, please contact the IT Service Desk (IT.Services@lboro.ac.uk), and take care when replying to emails you are unsure about.
