Reminder: Remote Working Service (VPN) Upgrade

As communicated on the  22/02/2018, the Remote Working Service (VPN),a service that provides staff and students with secure access to resources when working away from campus is being upgraded on 18th  April 2018.

HOW WILL THE WORKS AFFECT ME?

Remote Working Portal Users

From the 18th April 2018, the Remote Working Portal will no longer be available. If you are a user of this service, IT Services recommends you investigate the suitability of the client based VPN service. Further information can be found here.

 

Users of Cisco AnyConnect Client on Windows managed devices

As part of the hardware change, we are also upgrading the Cisco AnyConnect Client on Windows managed devices. The new AnyConnect Client is available now for anyone who wishes to manually install this version (via Software Center – version 4.5.03040). Please refer to FAQs for further help.

The new client will be pushed out to existing managed users of the service on the following days: -

Please Note: In order to accept the upgrade you must not be running the AnyConnect client.

Please do not defer the upgrade. The upgrade will install silently and takes a few seconds. A reboot is NOT required.

 

Users of Cisco AnyConnect Client on non-manged devices

Users of non-manged Windows devices and mac OS users must ensure they are running at least version 4 of the AnyConnect client.  Updates can be downloaded from the IT Services website Cisco AnyConnect install. If you do not upgrade to version 4.x of the AnyConnect client, you will not able to connect to the VPN Service after the hardware change on 18th April 2018.
