UKRI Policy Internship- National Assembly for Wales

UKRI are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for PhD students to carry out a policy internship with the National Assembly for Wales Research Service during 2020. This will give students experience of working in the fast-paced political environment of a legislature.

The Research Service provides impartial, independent and expert information services to support Assembly Members in all they do as elected representatives and to enable scrutiny of policy and legislation of the highest quality.

Students will be placed in the Assembly’s Research Service for 3 months. They will gain understanding of what it means to be a policy researcher and how evidence is used in the development of legislation, policy inquiries and debates.

This is a busy time to join the devolved legislature with the further devolution of powers, as well as the decision of the UK to leave the EU.

Successful candidates will be afforded a three month extension to their PhD timeframes to allow the placement to be completed, and it will be funded through their Research Council.

Please apply here by 12 August: https://www.ukri.org/skills/policy-internships-scheme/

Previous interns have found the experience of working at the Assembly to be very valuable – see four articles by former students about their placement: Hayley Moulding, Eleanor Warren-Thomas, Piotr Wegorowski and Rachel Prior.

Examples of publications by previous students can be found here: http://www.assembly.wales/en/bus-home/research/academic-engagement/Pages/UKRI-PhD-student-placements.aspx

Best wishes,

Katy

Helo bawb,

Mae’n dda gennym gyhoeddi cyfle arbennig i fyfyrwyr PhD ymgymryd ag interniaeth polisi â Gwasanaeth Ymchwil Cynulliad Cenedlaethol Cymru yn ystod 2020. Bydd hyn yn rhoi profiad i fyfyrwyr weithio mewn deddfwrfa sydd ag amgylchedd gwleidyddol, amrywiol.

Mae'r Gwasanaeth Ymchwil yn darparu gwasanaethau gwybodaeth ddiduedd, annibynnol ac arbenigol i gefnogi Aelodau'r Cynulliad ym mhob agwedd ar eu gwaith fel cynrychiolwyr etholedig ac i sicrhau gwaith craffu ar bolisïau a deddfwriaeth o'r safon uchaf posibl.

Bydd myfyrwyr yn rhan o Wasanaeth Ymchwil y Cynulliad am 3 mis. Byddant yn dod i ddeall hanfodion gwaith fel ymchwilydd polisi ac yn dysgu sut y defnyddir tystiolaeth wrth ddatblygu deddfwriaeth, ymholiadau polisi a dadleuon.

Dyma amser prysur i ymuno â deddfwrfa ddatganoledig sydd â phwerau datganoledig cynyddol, ochr yn ochr â phenderfyniad y DU i ymadael â’r UE.

Bydd ymgeiswyr llwyddiannus yn cael estyniad o 3 mis i gyfnod eu PhD er mwyn iddynt allu cwblhau’r interniaeth, a bydd yn cael ei ariannu gan y Cyngor Ymchwil.

Dylech wneud cais yma erbyn 12 Awst: https://www.ukri.org/skills/policy-internships-scheme/

Mae interniaid blaenorol wedi cael eu profiad o weithio yn y Cynulliad yn werthfawr iawn – gweler pedwar erthygl gan fyfyrwyr am eu profiad fel interniaid. Hayley Moulding, Eleanor Warren-Thomas, Piotr Wegorowski a Rachel Prior.

Dyma enghreifftiau o gyhoeddiadau gan fyfyrwyr blaenorol: http://www.assembly.wales/cy/bus-home/research/academic-engagement/Pages/UKRI-PhD-student-placements.aspx

Dymuniadau gorau,

Katy

Cynulliad Cenedlaethol Cymru yw’r corff sy’n cael ei ethol yn ddemocrataidd i gynrychioli buddiannau Cymru a’i phobl, i ddeddfu ar gyfer Cymru, i gytuno ar drethi yng Nghymru, ac i ddwyn Llywodraeth Cymru i gyfrif.

The National Assembly for Wales is the democratically elected body that represents the interests of Wales and its people, makes laws for Wales, agrees Welsh taxes and holds the Welsh Government to account.
