Travel funding

We administer two funding options to support overseas travel.

They are:

  • Santander Mobility Awards
  • International PhD Exchange

Applications should be made on the appropriate Travel Funding Application Form and should be completed with careful reference to the accompanying Guidance Notes.

For the  2020/21 academic year, applications for Santander Mobility Awards will be reviewed on a rolling basis at the end of each month

Applications should arrive prior to 5pm on the 29th day of the month.

Santander Mobility Awards

Through the Doctoral College, Santander Universities offers mobility awards to help our Doctoral students to build global research networks and enhamce their employability. In 2021 this funding can be used to support our doctoral researchers to undertake travel in UK or overseas, as well as for face to face or virtual conference attendance.  Please refer to the guidance notes prior to applying.

Applications should initially be made via Santander's BECAS application system

International PhD Exchange THIS FUNDING IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR 20/21

As part of the internationalisation of research and to increase joint publications with international partners, this scheme provides an opportunity for PhD student exchanges with strategic partners. Applications can be for Loughborough students to travel overseas or for international students to visit Loughborough. A strategic case must be made by the Associate Dean for Research on the form beow, including an indication of expected outcomes from the exchange. Up to 80% of the associated costs are available from the Doctoral College up to a maximum of £2500.
