I am a retired person and a Hindu Chaplain at The Loughborough University, Department of Faiths and Spiritualities. I have main concern with the Hindu Students Group. Because of my background in Multi-faith matters and being a member of the Charnwood Council of Faiths I am very comfortable with students and people of other faiths as well as  Hindu.

I was born in Gujarat, India. I joined my father in Tanganyika (Tanzania) at the age of eight. I grew up in Tanganyika in a multicultural, multi-faith community and became multi-lingual as well. After completing my High school studies I came to UK in 1960 for further studies.

I am married and have two daughters and a son. I have three grand-daughters and twin grand-sons. My elder daughter and son live and work in London whereas my second daughter live in Netherland  with her family.

I am actively involved in local community organisations such as:

  • A member of Human Rights and Equality Charnwood.
  • A member of SACRE (Standing Advisory Committee for Religious Education) committee of The Leicestershire County Council, Glenfield, Leicestershire.
  • A member of Loughborough Council of faiths for over 25 years.

Before retirement I worked for British Railways and was involved in local community organisations .I was elected as a Charnwood Borough Councillor for Hastings Ward in 2003 and served the ward for 8 years. I was appointed and served as a Non-executive Director on Board of NHS Primary Care Trust for NW Leicestershire in 2003 for a period of 4 years.

Furthermore I was a Custodian Trustee of Shree Prajapati Association International Trust Funds, This organisation actively raise charity monies within my community for education, community health and other community needs.

With all varied experience behind me I embrace meeting students and get involved with Hindu community at all levels.
