So you know you want to work in (sports) media but you don’t know what you’re qualified to do. This session is here to tell you that your opportunities are virtually endless. Hear from someone who started in newspapers and local radio, then went on to be a producer at Sky Sports News. Now they’re heading up operations at a leading sports digital agency and learning a whole new world over ten years after starting their media career. Learn about different career paths and the top tips for how to get there, as well as how you can constantly learn new skills to change and shape your career path whilst you’re on it. This session will include tips on creative media paths, but also show you how a knowledge of media theory, combined with a passion for the industry can result in your dream job.

Media Planning & Buying
IPG Mediabrands
The presentation will provide an overview on who IPG Mediabrands are and what they do. This will cover:
• What is a Media Agency
• What are the Media Channels/Platforms
• How does the Industry operate
• What trends are currently taking place across the Industry
The presentation will then lead on to provide an overview of the various brands within IPG Mediabrands and present some real-life case studies. Following this, three employees will explain their career journeys and what they do in their role. This will cover the Media Planning and Buying process.
The presentation will conclude with an overview of the various opportunities available at IPG Mediabrands, such as the Intern Scheme and Entry Level roles. IPG will share top-tips on how to succeed through their application process.

In the first half of the session, Irmak and Agnes will talk about their work, and give a brief overview of custom content and the power of storytelling for brands from a design, marketing and sales perspective.
The second half of the session will be a hands-on live content brief, which the students will work to respond to in teams, giving them a taste of how things work in the industry.
This workshop is suitable for all students – creatives and non-creatives.
