Placements Governance Manager

Responsibilities

Enhancing placement processes, working closely with staff in academic Schools and ensuring effective governance and compliance to protect students. Manager for ‘The Place’ – an exciting and vibrant new placements and skills hub located on the ground floor in Stewart Mason (0.06).

Chris is responsible for co-ordinating the development of placement provision, placement IT systems, and best practice activity related to placements and other professional work experience activities. In addition, he acts as Secretary to the Placement Advisers Group forum and is a member of the University Placements and Work Based Leaning Steering Group.

Chris oversees support for undergraduate placements and other work-based experiences for students from AED, SSEHS and Science. As well as providing services for students, ‘The Place’ is a useful outpost for staff from Careers Network, linked Schools and other student services to enhance students’ engagement, skills and outcomes.

Chris joined the Careers Network team in August 2016 on secondment from his role as the Information Team Co-ordinator within Student Services.  Prior to this he worked in Registry and IT Services at Nottingham Trent University.

 

 

Charlie Hague

Placements and Work Based Learning Officer

Responsibilities

Charlie has responsibility for coordinating Placements & Work Based Learning activities across several schools including the School of Science, the School of Sports, Exercise and Health Sciences and Creative Arts and English. He is based in The Place (Stewart Mason 0.06). Before this role, he worked as a Placements Advisor in the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering.

 

 

 

Ru Mistry BA (Hons) Business Studies

Placements and Work Based Learning Officer

Responsibilities

Ru has responsibility for co-ordinating Placements and Work Based Learning activities for the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences. 

Ru graduated from The University of Wolverhampton in 1997 with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies. She spent 14 years working for National Grid before she joined the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences in 2009.  Ru has worked in a variety of roles within the School, including the Clinical Sleep Research Centre, the Dean’s Office, Finance and the Undergraduate Team.  For the past 2 years Ru has worked in the Placements Team and has:

  • Engaged and supported SSEHS students throughout the placement process.
  • Offered advice on placement procedures, applications and general employer requirements to Part B students and colleagues.
  • Provided academic colleagues with support on placement procedures, coordinating visits and placement assessments.

In August 2015, Ru joined the Careers Network team and is now a member of the Placements and Skills Hub team based in The Place.

Rakhee Patel BSc (Hons) Biochemistry & Biological Chemistry

Placements and Work Based Learning Officer - Science

Responsibilities

Rakhee has responsibility for coordinating Placements & Work Based Learning activities for the whole of the School of Science (Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science).   She is based in The Place (Stewart Mason 0.06). Before this role, she worked as an administrator in the School of Science. 

 

 

 

Joe Scott BA (Hons) Fine Art & Media Studies

Placements and Work Based Learning Officer

Responsibilities

Joe graduated from DE Montfort University in 1996 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art & Media Studies. She spent 13 years working as a Merchandiser for a number of major international clothing manufactures, supplying clothing to the UK high street, before she joined the School of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering as an administrator. In July 2016 Joe took up the role of Placement and Work Based Learning Officer for the School of Arts, English & Drama and The Design School.

Joe has responsibility for coordinating Placements & Work Based Learning activities for the School of Arts, English & Drama and The Design School. She is based in The Place (Stewart Mason 0.06) and can provide advice on all aspects of the placement process as well as advice on CV’s, application forms and work experience opportunities.

Joe is also a practicing artist specializing in Fine Art Print and is a member of the Leicester Print Workshop.

 

 

Clare Wright

Placements and Work Based Learning Officer

Responsibilities

Clare has responsibility for co-ordinating Placements and Work Based Learning activities for the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences.  In particular Biosciences (Human Biology, Biochemistry and Biological Sciences) and Loughborough Psychology (Business Psychology, Psychology, Sport and Exercise Psychology, Social Psychology and Psychology with Criminology)

Clare graduated from Northampton University in 1999 with a BA (Hons) in Business Administration and Management.  She joined the Careers Network and Placements team on the 3rd October 2016.  Prior to this role Clare worked within the University in the School of Science as one of the student support administrators for 1 year and also the Mathematics Education Centre (MEC) and Mathematics Learning Support Centre (MLSC) for 13 years.
