Dr Katryna Kalawsky receives Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence (Professional Services)

Dr Katryna Kalawsky - Doctoral Researcher Development Officer (Doctoral College) - was recently awarded the prestigious Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence as a result of her work championing doctoral research wellbeing.

Katrina has made a sustained and significant contribution towards improving wellbeing support for doctoral researchers and staff at LU and beyond. Her work has been aligned with the Building Excellence Strategy, and the 4th Priority of the People Strategy (Workload, Wellbeing and Resilience). She has also organised several EDI events in-line with the University’s E&D Policy Statement, support LU’s Strategy Mission and Value Statement, and align with the 2nd Priority of LU’s People Strategy (Diverse, Respectful and Inclusive Culture).

What next: With support from the VC’s Award of Excellence, Katryna will work towards ‘fast tracking’ elements of the new Institutional Doctoral Wellbeing Action Plan, including new initiatives such as the Doctoral Wellbeing and Support Week 2020 (with collaborative input from Professional Services, LSU and academics), and the PRES2019 ‘You said, We did’ roadshow (to inform doctoral researchers that we value their feedback). The award will also enable sustained and enhanced engagement around EDI, namely an event or event series that showcase excellent Disability and Wellbeing Research at Loughborough.
