Design a Flower Bed Competition 2013

A new, exciting competition is on offer from Loughborough University in the run up to Britain in Bloom 2013.

The University are asking people to come up with a design for a flower bed using the theme ‘Edible Britain in Bloom’, which is the Royal Horticultural Society 2013 campaign.

The Loughborough in Bloom Design a Flowerbed competition is open to members of the community as well as staff and students of the University.

The winning flower bed design will be translated into a planting scheme using summer plants so the design will be seen when it blooms over the summer months.

It will be planted in the bed - which measures approximately 12m by 6m - in front of the Swimming Pool on Epinal Way. There will also be a £50 voucher for the winner.

This competition follows an extremely successful year for the University’s grounds and gardens team which saw their involvement with local partners flourish during the 2012 Britain in Bloom competition. Loughborough won the ‘Small City’ category representing East Midlands in the national competition organised by the Royal Horticultural Society.

The closing date for entries for the Loughborough in Bloom Design a Flowerbed Competition is Friday, 1st February and entry forms can be collected from the Grounds and Gardens Office, Facilities Management, Loughborough University, LE11 3TU or on request by emailing k.d.setchell@lboro.ac.uk.
