Professor Zahid Hasan to give this year's Sir Nevill Mott lecture at Loughborough University in London

The Department of Physics will host its annual Sir Nevill Mott Lecture on Thursday 25 May 2017, 6.00pm – 7.00pm, at Loughborough University in London, Main Lecture Theatre 001.

Return transport will be provided from Loughborough to the London campus, giving Loughborough students and staff the opportunity to attend the event.

This year's Mott Lecture is being given by Professor Zahid Hasan, Professor of Physics at Princeton University.

An expert in the physics of quantum matter, emergent phenomena in electron systems, and advanced spectroscopic high resolution imaging techniques, Professor Hasan's research has focused on quantum Hall-like topological phases, exotic superconductors, quantum phase transitions, and topological quantum matter. He played a pioneering role in the experimental discoveries of bulk topological insulators, helical topological superconductors, Weyl fermion materials and related new forms of quantum matter.

His lecture on 25 May is titled New Topological States of Matter: Material Platforms for Novel Fermions and promises to give fascinating insights into his cutting edge work.
