Nominations wanted for the School's "Extra Mile" Awards 2019

Staff and research students are asked to nominate any individual colleague or team within the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences that has gone above and beyond to provide help and support.

The School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences is looking for nominations for the Extra Mile Awards 2019. The awards are open to ALL staff and research students across the School, to nominate any individual colleague or team within the School who gives that bit extra. 

The categories for 2019 are as follows:

1. Inspirational Leadership Award
Motivates and inspires others, leads by example.

2. Emerging Leader Award
Demonstrating personal progression, inspiring others and achieving results for their team. A future leader.

3. Outstanding Dedication to Students Experience Award
Demonstrating extraordinary commitment to students.

4. Team of the Year Award
Working together successfully as a team to achieve positive School impact.

5. Excellence in Professional Service Award
Making a significant difference in frontline services. Making a valuable and recognisable contribution behind the scenes.

6. Outstanding Contribution to the School Award
Demonstrating an exceptional and sustained contribution to the School beyond
expectations.

7. Athena SWAN Award
Engaging and inspiring the progression of women within STEM subjects. Championing STEM both to prospective female students and to women currently studying or working within the School, e.g. through outreach, recruitment or mentoring activities.

8. Colleague of the Year Award
Exceptional dedication in developing, advancing and supporting staff and students.

9. PhD Student Award
Demonstrating sustained excellence during their PhD.

10. Research Assistant/Associate/Fellow of the Year
Exceptional dedication in research.

  • Proposed category;
  • Name of the nominee(s);
  • A brief summary (100 words) explaining why they have been nominated, along with examples.

The Extra Mile Award winners will be announced at the summer SSEHS staff social event.
